The Administration
Pairings: Toreth/Warrick. And I could list all the pairings, but it’s not like you’d recognize any of the names, since this is original.
Warnings: Holy crap, where to start? BDSM, slash, graphic sex, underage sex, issues of consent, some character death, torture, massive amounts of infidelity, and I probably missed something
Summary: In a dystopia, two men live as well as they might. A sociopath who works as a professional investigator/torturer for the despotic Administration turns out to be surprisingly compatible with a corporate director.
Comments: One of my weaknesses is two very formidable men, in a very strange relationship that nevertheless manages to work. This is a collection of three novels, three novellas, and 27 short stories (I started Thursday night, and just finished today. This is solely responsible for the paucity of reviews.) It’s wonderfully written - I enjoy well done dystopias, and this one is recognizably one we might have in the future. It isn’t the focus of the story, but that might be what adds to the effect, since there aren’t too many novels about people living ordinary lives in a dystopia. Even rarer is somewhat sympathetic view of one of the dystopia’s torturers. But the author doesn’t shield us from Toreth’s flaws. He lies, he compulsively cheats on Warrick (the aforementioned corporate director), he is possessive as all hell, he tortures people to death and views everyone but Warrick and his admin as tools and not quite real, but he’s nonetheless fascinating. And the author can do interesting, interesting plots, as well as some really hot sex. And she even makes Warrick a BDSM sub while keeping him formidable, to say the least, outside the bedroom. I have a weakness for really well done BDSM dynamics that don’t pull the 24/7 crap. (Yes, I know it exists, but that is the one thing that squicks me, and it’s surprisingly common in BDSM fiction). And I liked the novel on the revolution, “First Against the Wall”, but I wouldn’t suggest reading that until you’d read everything else.
Collection of novels, novellas, and one-shots, all complete.

Learning
Pairings: Konrad/Yuuri
Warnings: Implied sex, yaoi
Summary: Yuuri’s learning.
Comments: I’m in the middle of a very long fic that I’m waiting to the end to rec, but here’s one to tide you over. This is a nice Konrad/Yuuri fic. I really like the way it’s written. It’s in a list format, which is actually the second time I’ve run into a well-written list fic recently. Huh. Go figure.
One-shot, complete.

A Tale of Three Weddings
Pairings: Touya/Yukito, Sakura/Syaoran, Fye/Kurogane
Warnings: None
Summary: After all Sakura’s feathers have been retrieved, a series of weddings are arranged
Comments: Katharos is rapidly becoming one of my favorite authors. Her Tsubasa fics are easily among my top ten fics in Tsubasa, and this is just another wonderful, wonderful fic. My favorite part was when Fye and Kurogane bickered about their differing interpretations of how they first got together. Fye is brilliantly evil.
One-shot, complete.

Domesticity
Pairings: Touya/Yukito
Warnings: None
Summary: A fluffy domestic scene in the life of Hanshin!Touya and Yukito.
Comments: This is wonderfully done. It’s just…it’s soft and sweet and so wonderfully IC. The author manages to firmly establish their characters as Hanshin Republic-style Touya and Yukito, while still keeping them as Touya and Yukito. My only complaint is that Touya’s dislike of Syaoran seemed a little…strained. Yes, I know Touya has disliked Syaoran in two different worlds, but I don’t really think that he knows enough about Syaoran to dislike him in this world. On the other hand, that was only a couple sentences, so who cares? It’s still a thoroughly enjoyable fic.
One-shot, complete.

Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle 7:57 am

Sea
Pairings: Kurogane/Fai
Warnings: None
Summary: Kurogane understands people. Everyone but Fai.
Comments: I think that this is definitely an interesting look at Kurogane. Usually, I think of him being extra-perceptive when it comes to Fai, so it’s interesting to see a fic from a different point of view.
One-shot, complete.

Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle 7:02 am

He Wants Me
Pairings: Mentioned Kurogane/Fai, unrequited Kurogane/Souhi and Kurogane/Ginryuu
Warnings: None
Summary: Ginryuu and Souhi fight over who loves Kurogane more
Comments: I am so very amused by the concept of this fic. I never really fell in love with Ali-san’s style of writing, but it’s still a fun fic. And I like the concept of Kurogane’s two swords fighting over him.

Bleach 5:59 am

Cold Woman
Pairings: I’m keeping it a surprise.
Warnings: None
Summary: Rukia is a cold woman. Or is she?
Comments: I was so very amused by this. There’s something about the way that Rukia completely fails to react as she declared her love to someone that really amused me. And my cat is doing his level best to stop me from typing.
One-shot, complete.

Tsubasa Reservoir ChronicleApril 25, 2005 7:40 pm

Untitled
Pairings: Fai/Kurogane, mentions of past Ashura/Fai
Warnings: Mentions of previous sex
Summary: Even when Fai talks about his past, he doesn’t say much
Comments: I’m a little torn about reccing this fic. It isn’t really anything that unique or special, but something about it just appeals to me. I think it’s the calmness and the post-coital glow. My biggest problem is that Kurogane’s too mushy, but ah well. I still rather enjoyed it.
Side note: I just went through the entire Rayearth section on ff.net. Dear fucking god. I wrote fics of that quality when I was in fifth grade. There are very few good Rayearth fics. ANd the few that exist, I don’t feel like reading because they aren’t what I want. Wah.
One-shot, complete.

BleachApril 24, 2005 3:55 pm

These Newfangled ContraptionsGenr
Pairings: None
Warnings: None
Summary: Rukia runs into some surprise difficulties with human summer wear.
Comments: I am so easily amused by Rukia having difficulty with human crap. And I enjoyed the Ichigo/Rukia interaction.
Side notes: I have been writing instead of reccing. Haven’t been finding much to rec, frankly. Sorry.
One-shot, complete

Rurouni KenshinApril 23, 2005 12:52 pm

The Trap of Innocence
Pairings: Misao/Aoshi. A little side mention of Soujirou/Misao. (I almost wrote Soujirou/Aoshi. Come to think of it, I sort of want to see a threesome with those three.)
Warnings: Vampire AU
Summary: Misao is a guardian of a realm, a half-breed vampire who protects the human world from the vampires. Aoshi is a vampire lord. When Aoshi becomes dangerously obsessed with her, what happens?
Comments: Okay, I’ll admit it. I usually hate hate hate loathe vampire fics. THey’re a stupid, cheap excuse for angst, and are frequently about as well-done as your standard high school AU fic. But this is well-written, and I’m finding myself intrigued. I’ve always had a weakness for Misao/Aoshi fics. God only knows why.
One-shot, complete.

BleachApril 22, 2005 9:43 pm

Deathside
Pairings: Fairly gen. Centers mostly on Rukia, with some Renji and some Hanatarou.
Warnings: None.
Summary: A series of Soul Society arc centered drabbles.
Comments: I am way too tired to be reccing. But I enjoyed this too much not to rec. It’s more serious than I usually prefer for Bleach, but I still really enjoyed this.
Side notes: Apparently Me+skirt+hair actually down for once=Sex goddess. At least, that would explain the multiple guys hitting on me today. And the last couple of times I’ve worn a skirt and had my hair down I’ve been hit on. It’s kinda weird. Usually I’m ignored.
One-shot, complete.

Death Note, Crossovers, Prince of Tennis 9:23 pm

Captain, My Captain
Pairings: None
Warnings: None
Summary: When Yukimura enters junior high, he meets his idol. The first and last person you would expect to be captain of Rikkaidai’s tennis club.
Comments: I have been waiting for this day since the first time I read the famous tennis scene in Death Note. Light is sexy when playing tennis, and it actually works so amazingly well to have him as the captain. And it’s not like he isn’t as gay as any of the Tenipuri boys anyway.
One-shot, complete.

Bleach 3:09 pm

In the Tradition of Valentine’s Day
Pairings: Maybe a little implied Rukia/Ichigo. I’d call it gen, though.
Warnings: None
Summary: Rukia decides to celebrate the human’s Valentines’ day. In her own, special way.
Comments: I love Rukia. She is evil. ANd that’s so something I would do if I thought that I could get away with it. She’s a genius. Really, she is.
One-shot, complete.

Prince of TennisApril 20, 2005 8:30 pm

Tennis Idiots
Pairings: Atobe/Ann, teasing about Atobe/Momoshirou
Warnings: None
Summary: Atobe pursues Ann. Ann doesn’t take him seriously.
Comments: I adore Ann. I really do. She’s the only female (except maybe for Fuji Yumiko) that plausibly would call them all tennis idiots. And her relationship with Atobe in this amuses me.
One-shot, complete.

Death Note 8:26 pm

Office Politics
Pairings: L/Raito
Warnings: ….I’d call it an R rating despite the fact that there’s only mentions of sex. And psychosis. Well, it’s not like L/Raito ever really have a healthy relationship
Summary: When L and Raito’s relationship begins to interfere with the case, L takes steps. Sexually-frustrated supergeniuses are never a good thing.
Comments: Dude, the ending line just killed me. “L still thinks Raito is a serial killer and Raito still wants to find out L’s real name so Raito can add L to his list of victims, but it’s all done in a way that’s kind of sweet, when you ignore the rising body count.” The entire fic is like that, with the sort of black humor that I love. And I just kept cracking up at it.
Side notes: Wednesdays suck. Yes, yes they do. I leave the house at 8:20, and don’t come back til a bit after nine. Except for runs home between classes to keep my pets from lapsing into complete hysteria.
One-shot, complete.

BleachApril 19, 2005 6:38 pm

Hound
Pairings: Um, Renji and Rukia? Maybe? Kinda? Sorta?
Warnings: None
Summary: Renji and Rukia as children in the Rukongai.
Comments: Yes, I have a massive weakness for Renji/Rukia fics. We have established that. That aside, this paragraph just won me: “Rukia is not one of them. This can’t be made clear enough times for it to ever sink in. Renji finds he has to repeat himself a lot on the matter: Rukia is not our friend. No, Rukia is not coming with us. Rukia is A Really Annoying Guy And I’m Not Finding Him For You Bastards So Stop Asking.” Because so much of what I love about their relationship is the decidedly adversarial nature of it, even while they do tolerate and even care for one another.
Side-notes: I have decided that my OTPs for Bleach are Renji/Rukia, Ichigo/Ishida, Orihime/Tatsuki(/Chizuru), and Chad/Karin. I haven’t a chance in hell of finding a fic combining all those pairings, have I? I’m having flashbacks to my sojourn through the Fruits Basket fandom.
One-shot, complete.

Threesomes, Bleach 4:49 pm

Downtime
Pairings: Rukia/Shiba Kaien/Lady Shiba
Warnings: Implied M/F/F sex.
Summary: Rukia has an unusual encounter in the baths.
Comments: I do not have a threesome kink. No, really. Stop staring at me, dammit.
Notes: My internet is fixed! I finally gave up yesterday and called my internet provider, and they had a guy out here today. And it’s fixed! (Just in time for my brother’s birthday, which is, yes, today. I just wish I could remember if he’s turning 23 or 22.)
One-shot, complete.

BleachApril 17, 2005 2:01 pm

And Now For Something Completely The Same
Pairings: Renji/RUkia
Warnings: Suggestions of het sex.
Summary: Rukia is a control freak. Renji doesn’t care.
Comments: I love the way Rukia starts making preemptive excuses whenever she’s embarrassed about something. And you just know that now that she’s in charge of the festival, there will be bunnies. And I love the way she is such a control freak. And the way she instigates things. I never get enough good het lime.
One-shot, complete.

Death Note 1:56 pm

Amenuensis
Pairings: …Mentions of some, yes. Anything more would spoil the joke.
Warnings: Mentions of gay porn, yes.
Summary: When Light’s latest plan fails and leaves L handicapped, L forces Light to do his manual work for him.
Comments: I cracked up at the last bit. I was so totally not expecting it. And L and Light’s rivalry is, as always, entertaining.
One-shot, complete.

Bleach 12:45 pm

Sisterly Duty
Pairings: Ichigo/Ishida
Warnings: None
Summary: Ichigo should know better than to confess his unrequited love to Rukia. Really, he should.
Comments: I have mentioned that I adore Rukia? (Well, not in the current anime arc. I want kickass!Rukia back, dammit). But the way she deals with Ichigo and Ishida’s feelings is utterly hilarious. Really, I sort of wish I had had a Rukia around my high school to cut down on the number of people pining over someone.
One-shot, complete.
