Comments: The atmosphere in this fic is just amazing. It feels like Charn. Or, ah, I think that’s the name of the dead world in The Last Magician. It has been many, many years since I read it. But anyway, the utter desolation, and Fai for once being utterly serious, and just the oppressive isolation of the world around them just works. Perfectly.

Went Forth Unconquered

Summary: No matter what, Susan is still a Queen of Narnia.
Comments: The end of the Narnia series never fails to irritate me, and Susan’s fate is among the many irritations. This is one of the most coherent (and, yes, less…disturbing than Neil Gaiman’s version of Susan’s story), and it somehow manages to capture a strange sense of serenity about Susan. She strikes me as being both so angry that a lesser mortal would have snapped and gone on a homicidal rampage, and utterly self-contained. And I think that frankly, that’s the best possible reaction Susan could have to the end of the Narnia series.

Domestic Bliss

Comments: This is just, well, cute. Konoe-fic is very rare, and this does a nice job of characterizing him, while also focusing on Tatsumi and Watari. There’s something very family-like about this fic, and I just don’t get enough of that.

Summary: What does Gojyo do when no one comes to rescue him from Nii?
Comments: Damn, this was well-written. Most of the prison!fics I come across just aren’t that well-written - the characterization is off, the plot is non-existent, and it’s just an excuse for an unrelieved angst fest. This is not one of those prisonfics. The characterization was spot-on, the plot was moderately non-existent, but at least it wasn’t trying to make an epic out of it, and it is not an unrelieved angst fest. And Gojyo’s interlude with Hakkai at the end had me going awww.

Comments: Okay, I was laughing. And going aww. And laughing again. Because Gojyo and Dokugakuji talking about their relationships when drunk is funny. And the characterization here is just so, so good.

Comments: I have…issues with the characterization of this. Neither Yozak nor Murata really strike me as being them in this. At the same time, it’s a short, cute fic that fulfills my Yozak/Murata cravings, and I enjoyed it. And it covers a scene in the anime that I desperately wanted to know more about. So… I don’t know.

Falling - a Saiyuki/Ranma 1/2 crossover

Summary: Gojyo falls into a mysterious spring, and turns into a woman.
Comments: I’ll admit, I do have a weakness for random-people-fall-into-the-Jusenkyo-springs fic, but this is one of the better ones. The plot is pretty much nil, but the characterization is spot on, and the sex scenes are unusually well-written. Gojyo’s mind when he’s having sex as a woman is an interesting place to be.

Summary: A series of vignettes on Kurogane, Fye, and Tomoyo’s relationship
Comments: When I read this, something about my perceptions of the three characters just snapped into place. It’s beautifully, wonderfully written. Before I read it, I couldn’t quite figure out how Tomoyo would work in their relationship. A trusted friend, yes, but the potential for tearing Kurogane’s loyalty in two remained. But this resolves any and all issues I had with Tomoyo, and just does so beautifully.

For Mr. Chappy
Characters/Pairings: Renji/Rukia/Byakuya. God, life is good.
Warnings: Drinking, threesome sex. Um, whatever warning is appropriate for Rukia and Byakuya both sexing up Renji at once.
Summary: WHen Renji gets drunk with the Kuchikis, he gets a not-unpleasant surprise.
Comments: Kuchiki/Renji threesome! Rukia and Byakuya getting drunk and sexing up Renji! How could I not love this fic? It’s well-written, too.

Comments: The characterizations in this is just utterly, perfectly, them. It’s funny, it’s well-written, it deals with a period in the series that isn’t covered enough for my taste - what’s not to like? Okay, I’d appreciate a plot, but really, it’s pretty good without it.

Let it be easy

Summary: It is only that terrible, rainy night where Rukia learns the feel of friend’s blood on her face that she learns the name of her sword.
Comments: This is just flat-out the most beautifully done fic I’ve seen dealing with Rukia, her sword, and that night. It just is.

Past Pain and Past Yesterday
Characters/Pairings: Christine, Murata, Jose, Bob.
Warnings: …Character death?
Summary: Jose hears about Christine’s death, and finally hears who she truly was. When he later meets a calm and cheerful little boy, he begins to understand.
Comments: God, I love fics that deal with Jose and Murata when Jose first met Murata. Seriously. I think that that is one of the best ficcing opportunities in the entire series. And I think this is the second I’ve come across, and the first was my own (that will never leave my notebook, thank you very much. It sucks.) And this just does it nicely. I can really see canon!Murata in her characterization of him, and Murata’s one of those characters that’s just kind of hard to characterize.

Conflicting Loyalties
Characters/Pairings: Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon, Anakin, Qui-Gon/Shmi.
Warnings: Mentioned rape, graphic sex, betrayal, slash, and minor mentioned child molestation in a way.
Summary: Obi-Wan finds Qui-Gon again, scarred in ways he can’t even begin to imagine.
Comments: This fic, to me, has always been the epitome of a good Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon fic. I’m sure it has something to do with the fact that I first found it when it was recced from a ship_manifesto essay on Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan, but in all honesty, this is a damn good fic. Both of them are kept in character, Obi-Wan doesn’t abandon all his duties for his returned from the dead (no, not literally) master, and it has an interesting premise. And it takes it’s ideas, and doesn’t flinch away from some of the harsher consequences. Damnit, if you’re going to screw up a relationship before getting them back together, you should screw it up properly, and here’s a good example of how.
Note: While reading this, I kept contemplating telling my professors “Sorry my homework’s late. I was busy reading gay Jedi porn.” And now I’m going to work on my homework, so I don’t end up having to tell them that. Even if it would be funny.
