Fullmetal AlchemistJuly 1, 2006 12:34 pm

Firebird
Characters/Pairings: Scar/Al
Warnings: Graphic sex
Summary: “Restored to his body, Al comes to the desert, looking for something he can’t quite name. Scar helps him find it.”
Comments: Huh. I honestly thought I’d already recced this fic. I searched through the FMA section, plus a few other in case I’d marked it into the wrong category, but. Apparently I didn’t. So. It’s the only well-written Scar/Al fic I’ve ever seen, and ever since I first watched episode…23? 24? 25?, I’ve thought that Scar/Al had the potential to be a very interesting pairing. But I’d probably rec this even if I didn’t have that background, just because the way they play off each other is just so beautiful. The way Scar’s trying to teach Al that not everything has to be equivalent exchange, the way Al’s still trying to adjust to being in a human body, just…everything.
One-shot, complete.

Fullmetal AlchemistJune 25, 2006 7:44 pm

State Secrets
Characters/Pairings: Sloth/Archer
Warnings: Graphic het tentacle sex
Summary: Sloth and Archer have a meeting. Archer makes an unexpected deal.
Comments: Asdlfkj tentacle het sex with the woman topping. That alone would make me at least consider reccing it, despite the fact that it’s really not much more than a PWP, but the omake at the end is just so so very perfect. As is Archer’s reaction throughout the fic. I keep reading laylah’s porn, and I keep going “Damnit, I don’t like reccing PWPs. I want more character insight than most of them provide” and then she goes and writes brilliant (and incredibly hot) fics like this. It isn’t fair.
One-shot, complete.

Fullmetal Alchemist, Harry Potter, Camp Fuck You DieJune 16, 2006 9:47 am

Homecoming
Characters/Pairings: Riddle, Ed
Warnings: None
Summary: After Camp Fuck You Die, Riddle returns home changed.
Comments: To be honest, I’m pretty damn sure you won’t get it unless you’ve been following CFUD. At which point you probably already know about it, and it’s kind of pointless reccing it. So why am I reccing it? Because I originally made this site to keep track of my favorite fics, damnit. And this made me sparkle madly.
One-shot, complete.

Fullmetal Alchemist, XXXHolic, Prince of Tennis, Miscellaneous, Fruits Basket, Petshop of HorrorsFebruary 25, 2006 8:14 pm

Untitled
Characters/Pairings: Yuuko appears in all. And, separated by comma if they appear within the same drabble, separated by semi-colon if they appear in the next drabble, are: Dumbledore; Yuki; Hanajima; Watanuki, Ed (by implication), Ryoma (by implication), D (by implication)
Warnings: None
Summary: 7 drabbles here, five of which I rec. (The other two I don’t even know the bloody series they’re from, but I’ll assume they’re good if you know what they are.)
Comments: Yes, this is further evidence that xxxHolic can be crossed over with anything well. And some of the interactions are just amazingly well done. My favorite line was “She’s a tall woman, with an impressive rack, but something about her makes you keep your eyes slightly above her collar bone at all times.” describing Yuuko, because if that isn’t how Yuki would view Yuuko, I read the wrong manga for them both. And the last drabbles is sheer genius. Because I said so.
Multiple drabbles, complete.

Fullmetal AlchemistDecember 24, 2005 1:37 pm

Untitled
Characters/Pairings: One-sided Roy/Ed, Roy/Hughes, Roy/Kimbley, Roy/Riza
Warnings: None
Summary: Roy Mustang is a man doomed to disastrous relationships
Comments: Okay, the last couple lines just made it for me. The fact that the author seems to view Ed much the same as me (i.e. basically asexual, at least until after he cures Al) helps, but Roy’s ending line to Hawkeye killed me. And I like well-done crack pairings, and any fic that manages to insinuate Roy/Kimbley reasonably in-character without even having to make it the focus of the fic wins major points with me. Yes, I’m easy.
One-shot, complete.

Fullmetal AlchemistDecember 1, 2005 3:15 pm

mikkeneko: Little Lab of Horrors
Characters/Pairings: Ed, Al.
Warnings: Lots. And lots. I kind of want to warn underage people away from reading the warnings, even. Non-consensual plant tentacle sex. Please don’t ever make me say that again in a rec.
Summary: Ed’s mission goes wrong.
Comments: How the hell can a tentacle rape fic be this well done? It’s… a damn good hurt/comfort fic, and the ending with Al rescuing Ed was downright fluffy. And it’s honestly well-written. And I think I need to go take a shower now that I’ve recced a tentacle fic. Unclean, unclean.
One-shot, complete.

Fullmetal AlchemistNovember 13, 2005 5:34 pm

Artifice
Characters/Pairings: Ed, Hohenheim
Warnings: None
Spoilers: Um. It won’t make sense unless you’ve seen the end of the tv series, although I wouldn’t say it spoils it, per se.
Summary: Ed still seeks a way home.
Comments: This is just a perfect little vignette of Hohenheim and Ed’s relationship post-series. Ed’s bitterness and Hohenheim’s regret are just played out well. And I have a massive soft spot for well-done Hohenheim and Ed fics.
Notes: You know, this reminded me that I still haven’t seen the FMA movie. The torrent I downloaded didn’t work for some reason, and I haven’t really been that into FMA for a while. I’m slow.
One-shot, complete.

Fullmetal AlchemistSeptember 26, 2005 8:00 pm

Untitled
Characters/Pairings: Ed/Roy, Al.
Warnings: Mentions of sex toys.
Summary: When Ed and Al are assigned to investigate a strange alchemy store, they get a very unexpected surprise.
Comments: The scene in the store just kills me. Dead. Poor Ed is so oblivious, and poor Al’s so not, but is embarrassed to explain, and I just find it hilarious.
One-shot, complete.

Fullmetal AlchemistSeptember 11, 2005 8:15 pm

Visibility High
Characters/Pairings: Ed, Roy
Warning: None
Summary: Ed plays a prank on Roy.
Comments: First off, I love the format. It’s a timejump thing, where it shows the consequences of the prank, and the situations that led up to the prank, before actually telling what the prank is. It takes a good author to pull off a format like this, but when they can pull it off, it’s just fun. It’s one of those fics that I’ve been meaning to rec for months and months and months, because it just stands out in my memory. I like odd formats when they turn out well.
One-shot, complete.

Fullmetal Alchemist 4:54 pm

In Memory
Characters/Pairings: Ed and Al focused, really
Warnings: None
Summary: What would happen if when Hohenheim left, he took Ed with him?
Comments: I had some issues with the story. Mainly, it seems to be making Hohenheim a much more callous guy than he was in the series. It seems to be manga based, so I’m not sure how his characterization differs in that though. That aside, it’s an interesting idea. I think the most interesting part to me, is how Al is viewed as a genius without his brother there. (Yes, that’s an issue with me that I like seeing.) And it’s just an interesting, interesting idea that is fairly well done. I will say this, though. It feels incomplete, even though the author says it’s complete. It feels like something that should be a multi-chapter fic.
One-shot, complete.

Fullmetal AlchemistAugust 20, 2005 8:26 pm

Through a Glass Darkly
Characters/Pairings: Al-centric, post-anime.
Warnings: End of series spoilers.
Summary: With Ed shining so brightly, it is easy to forget that Alphonse is a genius as well. Alphonse finds what it is like to lose the shadow cast by his brother’s genius.
Comments: Oh wow. This is everything I loved about Al from the beginning. Ed’s the hero of the series, and a genius, but people forget just how talented Al is, as well. And this is just beautifully written, dealing with Al after the end of the series, and the reactions of those around him. It almost makes me want to get back into FMA again.
One-shot, complete.

Fullmetal Alchemist, Crossovers, The SandmanJuly 19, 2005 5:30 pm

Where Am I Going?
Characters/Pairings: Lust, Death.
Warnings: Spoilers?
Summary: After Lust dies, she meets Death. In the form of a pretty goth girl. (Sandman crossover!)
Comments: …Dude, it’s a nicely characterized Sandman!Death giving a pep talk to Lust. How could anyone not like it?
One-shot, complete.

Fullmetal Alchemist, Harry Potter, CrossoversJuly 11, 2005 5:16 pm

Fading Footsteps
Part: 1 2 3 4 5 6
Side stories: 1
Characters/Pairings: Edward Elric, Tom Riddle
Warnings: Spoilers for ep. 51. As dark as you’d expect a Tom Riddle and Ed fic to be.
Summary: When Ed becomes a teacher at Hogwarts as he searches for a way home, a young student with a dark nature catches his attention.
Comments: Well written for a complete crack concept. I like this sort of vaguely plausible crack that takes itself seriously, and I rarely get it. I think the way the author had Ed and Tom interact is interesting, and I think her older, more cynical Ed (who makes Snape look like an easy teacher, at least in the amount of work given) is a very interesting look. And, well, I’m sure you know my weakness for interesting crossovers.
Edit: Completed on July 14, 2005. Side story added July 21, 2005.
Multi-chapter, complete.

Fullmetal AlchemistJune 21, 2005 7:35 am

Consequences
Characters/Pairings: Ed/Al, Winry. Possibly Ed/Al/Winry
Warnings: Gay incest. Duh.
Summary: When Ed accidentally destroys the present that Winry’s working on, he gets in trouble.
Comments: I think I remember Asidian from the Yami no Matsuei fandom, actually. And even though I wasn’t particularly in the mood for FMA, I decided to try it anyway because I fugured that, if she was the Asidian I vaguely remembered, it’d be good. And it’s cute and funny and I do like the more domestic Ed/Al(/Winry) fics. And the ending was funny.
One-shot, complete.

Fullmetal Alchemist 7:29 am

Coping
Characters/Pairings: Ed, Al, Winry. Mix and match as necessary.
Warnings: None
Summary: Al enjoys being mother-henned.
Comments: Shorter than I usually like to rec, but it just made me go “Aww…” Winry and Ed bickering over who gets to take care of Al is just sweet.
One-shot, complete.

Fullmetal Alchemist, ThreesomesMay 2, 2005 8:13 pm

Finding the Way Home
Characters/Pairings: Hawkeye/Martyr/Winry threesome. W00t.
Warnings: Graphic lesbian threesome
Summary: A gratuitous lesbian threesome between three of the hottest women in FMA.
Comments: I always complain that there isn’t enough femslash in FMA, and then I find this. I feel like it’s my birthday. And it’s written by Harukami, so you know it’s well-written.
One-shot, complete

Fullmetal Alchemist 5:45 pm

A Nest of Snakes
Characters/Pairings: Al-centric
Warnings: Post-series. Mildly disturbing content. But considering that it’s Al dreaming about actual event in the series, I’m not sure that’s a big deal.
Spoilers: For the entire series
Summary: After the series ends, Al dreams of snakes.
Comments: WHile watching the original series, I originally felt my stomach actually twist when (highlight for spoilers) Pride killed Martel. It just…horrified me. That in mind, Harukami’s done her usual excellent job of explicating Al’s feeling on that, even after he forgets.
Notes: I’ve been considering switching over from simply mentioning pairing to characters and/or pairings. Consider me to have started mentioning both. With the amount of gen I like, it should be helpful.
One-shot, complete

Fullmetal Alchemist, Crossovers, XXXHolic 5:15 am

Untitled
Pairings: None
Warnings: Creepiness
Summary: Yuuko gets a visitor, one well-acquainted with paying prices.
Comments: I was just waiting for the day I would find an XXXHolic/FMA crossover, and this is nicely done. It’s a tad short for my prederences, but what’s there is just so perfectly what would happen in a canonical FMA/XXXHolic crossover.
One-shot, complete.

Fullmetal AlchemistApril 13, 2005 9:07 pm

Of Tea and Poison 1/1
Pairings: Light Dante/Trisha
Warnings: Creepyness, speculations on Trisha’s death
Spoilers: Only works if you know who Dante really is
Summary: Dante decides to visit Hohenheim’s wife. With gifts.
Comments: I hate Wednesdays. I’m out of the house for a solid 12 hours, most the time. And my last class of the day was a bitch and a half. But this almost managed to restore my mood. In an odd sort of “Well, hell, at least I’m not Dante’s rival” sort of way.
One-shot, complete.

Fullmetal AlchemistMarch 20, 2005 10:06 am

Ignis Fatuus
Pairings: None
Warnings: None
Spoilers: Ep. 7
Summary: Ed specializes in separating human based chimeras into their respective components. Only- none have been successful.
Comments: Diverges from canon, obviously. According to the author, there’s a couple other stories in the same universe, which I’m sure I’ll get around to reading eventually. But it’s well written, and I loved her Ed. And the ending wasn’t bad, and I can totally see Ed specializing in chimera separation after, um, yeah, and we all know that he wouldn’t give up even after failure after failure and it’s just that I really enjoyed seeing Ed in this. And I think breakfast’s going to burn if I don’t shut up right now.
One-shot, complete.
