And her Outo version talking to Fai about his relationship with Kurogane is just wonderful.

Comments: The atmosphere in this fic is just amazing. It feels like Charn. Or, ah, I think that’s the name of the dead world in The Last Magician. It has been many, many years since I read it. But anyway, the utter desolation, and Fai for once being utterly serious, and just the oppressive isolation of the world around them just works. Perfectly.

Comments: When I read this, something about my perceptions of the three characters just snapped into place. It’s beautifully, wonderfully written. Before I read it, I couldn’t quite figure out how Tomoyo would work in their relationship. A trusted friend, yes, but the potential for tearing Kurogane’s loyalty in two remained. But this resolves any and all issues I had with Tomoyo, and just does so beautifully.

Comments: The characterizations in this is just utterly, perfectly, them. It’s funny, it’s well-written, it deals with a period in the series that isn’t covered enough for my taste - what’s not to like? Okay, I’d appreciate a plot, but really, it’s pretty good without it.

Dancing With My Shadow

Summary: Seishirou has an interesting conversation with Seishirou.
Comments: This is just completely and utterly how a fic like this should be written. The two Seishirou’s are appropriately wary of each other, yet intrigued by the other, and the parallels and the foreshadowing and the discussions on fate made me grin like the fangirl I am.

May Dance
Characters/Pairings: Fai/Sakura. No, really. No, I’m not lying.
Warnings: Hell if I know what to warn for here. None? I guess? I will assure you that Sakura and Fai do absolutely not sleep together though. Nor is it a permanent relationship. I think that’d break my mind.
Summary: Sakura has an educational experience.
Comments: I have a soft spot in my heart for anyone who can make utterly crack pairings actually work. With Fai and Sakura…I’m tempted to call it almost a purely physical thing, but that’s…somewhat true and not entirely true. There’s honest affection there, and they do care for each other, but there is a mostly physical element ot the relationship. But there’s also parallels between Chi and Sakura, and acknowledgement of just how important Syaoran is to Sakura, and it’s just very, very well done.
Notes: I apologize for not reccing yesterday. I had a midterm at 7:45 at night, and that completely screwed up my schedule and meant that basically I wasn’t at a computer all day. Which makes it kind of hard to rec.

Comments: A really interesting idea, very well-written, by one of the better authors out there. Someone needs to do a complete (well-written) fic about the CCS gang meeting the Tsubasa gang at some point, or I will be immensely sad.

This red, red moon

Warnings: Deals with menstruation
Summary: When Sakura gets her period, chaos ensues.
Comments: Poor, poor Sakura, but this is hilarious. Possibly my favorite part is where Yuuko calls them all idiots and gives Sakura what she needs to deal with this. For free. Because poor, poor Sakura has had to put up with the guys reacting for the last five minutes.

World Falls

Summary: Fai takes a job to kill the king, but didn’t expect becoming involved emotionally.
Comments: A very different look at how Ashura and Fai’s relationship might have started, pre-series. Most the others tend to demonize Ashura, and turn Fai into a weepy uke, and I like this. There isn’t enough yet to know how much I’ll like this, but it is a very, very interesting premise, and I’m looking forward to more.
First chapter of a theoretically multi-chapter fic, incomplete.

Frozen
Characters/Pairings: Kurogane, Fai.
Warnings: None
Summary: When the party is thrown into the world of Celes, Fai is even more eccentric than normal.
Comments: Okay, first off, I have issues with Fai even being sent to Celes in the first place. I go back and forth on whether it’s actually possible, but either way, the debate distracts me from the fic. Nevertheless, I like this fic. It’s a nicely done portrayal of Fai dealing with being sent to his home world, from Kurogane’s perspective. I could wish it had plot and stuff, but the point of this fic seems more to give Kurogane greater insight into Fai, and that would be unnecessary to it. I don’t know what I’m saying. But it’s a decent fic.

Flighty

Warnings: Unusual Fai characterization (not OOC, necessarily. It’s certainly justifiable. But unusual.)
Summary: Fai played a cat and mouse game with Ashura. And when he starts to fall into familiar patterns around Kurogane, Kurogane refuses to play.
Comments: I sort of lost interest in Tsubasa for a while. But Pikachumaniac is a damn good author, and while I don’t entirely agree with the Fai characterization, I find it interesting nonetheless. And it takes much better writing to make me rec a characterization I don’t entirely agree with than one I agree with, so that in and of itself should tell you something.
Note: I love my new keyboard. I find myself wanting to write random stuff with it just because it’s so much nicer to type on than my last one. I still miss my wireless keyboard that my brother gave me for Christmas though. *sigh*

A Cunning Plan

Comments: At first, I was really iffy about this story because I thought the author was going to go for a weak Fai who’s letting himself be used by Kurogane for sex because he doesn’t think that he deserves any better, but the last scene absolutely won me over. It’s just - it’s cute and funny and it fits their dynamics so, so perfectly.

Hidden Talents

SummarY: Kurogane has a surprising talent. Or, perhaps, not so surprising when you consider who his princess is.
Comments: I was so not expecting to be able to believe this. But it is so much what Tomoyo would do, and Kurogane would grump and swear and give in because to do otherwise might put Tomoyo in danger. And it’s cute, and I like the way it develops Kurogane’s character.

Fleur de Lis (Mirror: Chapter 1 2 3)

Summary: When the travellers arrive in a cold and unwelcoming world, they are missing Fai.
Comments: Not enough people do fics about what might happen if the Tsubasa gang arrived in Fai’s world, and this is very well-written and very interestingly done. It’s subtle, and even before she’s written anything with Fai, you learn so much from his former surroundings. And then we find that Fai is at Yuuko’s, so as not to break his wish, and holy hell, he and Yuuko get along like a house on fire. (People screaming and running. Property destruction costs extra unless they’re really drunk). And it’s just probably one of my three favorite Tsubasa fics, even though I’m well over my original obsession with the series.

Can’t Go Home Again

Comments: I haven’t been reading Tsubasa fics for a while, but this one caught my interest on fic_on_demand, and, well, it’s a well-written fic that does a nice job of showing Fai’s reaction to seeing a happier Ashura with another Fai. Poor Fai.

Comments: You know, I went into this just not in the mood for Tsubasa fics, but not really wanting to go to the bother of looking some more for fic. But reading this - I enjoyed it. Fai and Kurogane’s bickering is wonderfully in character, and it’s a nice development of their relationship and what Fai could plausibly feel. Fai’s hard to characterize correctly, I’ve noticed, and this Fai feels right. As does Kurogane. And Mokona’s comments are as always, entertaining.

My favorite part was when Fye and Kurogane bickered about their differing interpretations of how they first got together. Fye is brilliantly evil.
